Restylane® has been successfully used in smile lines (nasolabial folds), lipstick lines (perioral lines), marionette lines (oral commissures) and scars to restore contour to the lips, and add fullness to the face.

What is Restylane® and how does it work?

Restylane® is a safe and natural cosmetic dermal filler that restores volume and fullness in the skin to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. Restylane is injected into the dermis in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The result is instantaneous, producing a long-lasting, natural enhancement, gentle and safe for the skin.

How long does Restylane® last?

Most patients can expect Restylane® treatments to last 4-6 months however the effect is individual and depends on the structure of your skin, age and lifestyle. Research indicates that touch-up and follow-up treatments will add to the duration.

What are the potential side effects?

The rate of reactions to Restylane® is very low. However, after the treatment some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These typically resolve spontaneously within a few days after injection into the skin and within a week after the injection into the lips.

What should I expect during treatment?

Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultra fine needle, resulting in minimal discomfort. The procedure is simple and convenient, and results are instantaneous. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, Dr. Hulten may anesthetize the treatment area.

How is Restylane different from Botox Cosmetic?

Restylane® is a natural, cosmetic filler used to treat static wrinkles. In contrast, Botox® Cosmetic blocks the nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscles therefore, treating dynamic wrinkles.
